eQoS for MoCA Access 2.5 – boosting broadband performance in MDUs

The Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA) has announced a powerful enhancement to its MoCA Access™ 2.5 standard. The new amendment, called Enhanced Quality of Service (eQoS), gives operators granular control over traffic prioritization and bandwidth allocation in Multi-Dwelling Units (MDUs). By enabling better performance during peak usage and supporting latency-sensitive applications, this upgrade helps service providers deliver even more reliable connectivity to residents. Although the in:xtnd C25X control units already have powerful QoS support implemented, this may serve as an important future complement to the functionality of the full portfolio.

This development underscores the Alliance’s unwavering commitment to advancing technology standards that meet the evolving needs of the industry and our vision for ubiquitous, high-quality broadband access,“ said Marcos Martínez, President at MoCA and Director of Standards Engineering at MaxLinear. “MoCA Access 2.5 eQoS is a critical feature that directly supports the growing demand for reliable broadband extension deployments, significantly enhancing service providers‘ ability to deliver exceptional connectivity.“
